Vestibulodynia

Vestibulodynia, also known as vulvar vestibulitis or vestibulitis syndrome, is a condition characterized by pain, burning, or discomfort at the entrance to the vagina, known as the vestibule. This pain is typically provoked by touch or pressure, such as during sexual intercourse or when inserting tampons. Vestibulodynia can make sexual activity painful or impossible, leading to sexual dysfunction and decreased sexual satisfaction.

Vaginismus

Vaginismus is a condition characterized by involuntary muscle spasms in the pelvic floor muscles, which can make penetration painful or impossible. While it primarily affects sexual intercourse, it can also affect gynecological exams and tampon insertion. Vaginismus can certainly interfere with sexual function and satisfaction, making it a form of sexual dysfunction. However, it can also have broader impacts on emotional well-being and interpersonal relationships.
